A downloadable game for Windows

Hey there! I'm FakeGinger and this is a very early prototype of my game Helgoland - Dead Tides. The game takes place on some islands in northern Germany after a virus turned most of humanity into hungry zombies. The game's protagonist is called Sam, a former journalist whose trying to find a safe haven in the midst of the post-apocalypse.

The general themes of the game are reclaiming your home and your humanity, building a family and making tough decisions when it matters. Mixed in with some loot-gathering,  crafting, basic base-building and fighting.

About the prototype v0:

- About 3 minutes of playtime

- The technical demo has a quest that wants to be completed: Gather enough resources to build a basic tent!

- The Baltrum-level contains the first part of the island of Baltrum: The beach. There isn't much to see or do here (yet), but taking a walk on the beach can feel kind of relaxing :)

Plans for the v1-version:

- Release mid November

- New area for Baltrum: The dunes

- New cutscene on Baltrum: Meeting Archie, the dog

- Settings: Switch between fullscreen and windowed

- Bugfixing & improvements

- Probably more stuff I'm currently planning

Disclaimer:

I can't tell yet how far I'll be able to take this project. But releasing v0 is both a finishing line for releasing something at all, and a starting line for taking this project one step further with each version from this point on.

First time playing I killed the first zombie but then lost all control of my character. Quit and started again but couldn't recreate the bug.

Excellent demo! I really enjoyed running around and fighting zombies. The setting is awesome and I can't wait to see where it goes. Here is some feedback:

Walking about was a bit clunky. It felt like objects sometimes got in the way, when I could see they weren't.

The zombies killed me very quickly and I didn't do much damage to them.

The sounds were loud.
